Laurie Schacht (she/her pronouns) is the director of the Sexual Assault Program at YWCA Clark County. In this role she trains and supports staff in providing empowerment based advocacy to victim/survivors of sexual assault and their family and friends. The SA program is a state accredited community based advocacy program, serving Clark County for over 37 years.
Laurie is committed to the mission of eliminating racism and empowering women, and has worked in victim services since 2001 providing advocacy, co-facilitating psychoeducational support groups, and training at local, regional and state levels. She is dedicated to supporting survivors of sexual violence, as well as continuing the conversations to break the silence and end this form—and all forms—of victimization and oppression.
Laurie is a co-chair of the Human Trafficking Task Force Clark County, as well as a steering committee member of the domestic violence/sexual assault task force, and on the Safe Communities Task Force. She is also involved with PREA (Prison Rape Elimination Act) advocacy work, serving victims who are incarcerated. Laurie recognizes what an honor it is when a survivor trusts you with their story, and strives to meet every person with dignity and respect.
