De Stewart (she/her pronouns) is an Advocacy Specialist with YWCA Clark County Sexual Assault Program. Since 2013 she has worked in roles of advocacy, support group facilitator, childhood sexual assault prevention education and community outreach. De acts as an ally for the LBGTQ community as a member of YWCA Clark County Public Policy Committee’s transgender rights work group as well as vice president of PFLAG Southwest Washington and chapter lead for Washington Safe Alliance. She has lobbied representatives in Olympia for enhanced protection for survivors of sexual assault as well as equal rights for the queer community.
In 2017, De presented at the PFLAG National conference on forming coalitions to protect transgender rights, as well the CASA state conference on recognizing childhood sexual abuse. She was a panelist at the task force sponsored showing of “I Am Jane Doe”.
De recognizes the many barriers victims/survivors of trafficking and sexual violence face and finds innovative approaches for providing services with respect while acknowledging the value in every person she serves.
